Celebrate Freedom on Good Friday
“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and will not be judged, but has crossed over from death to life.” John 5:24 (NIV)
As we approach Easter, we’re reminded that the Resurrection is at the heart of the healing process that is the journey to freedom.
John Sandford of Elijah House Ministries puts it this way: there are two sides to healing. Bringing the old things to death—Sanctification—and bringing something new to life—Transformation.
Without the cross, there would be no forgiveness of sins or reconciliation with God. Without the Resurrection, we could not rise to new life in Christ. One side cannot exist without the other.
Let’s start off this day, Good Friday, by meditating on not only the new life the Resurrection brings to us, but also the power of the cross. Because there’s a power in letting the old self pass away so the new self—the true self—can emerge victoriously. That power comes only from the love of the Christ.
This Easter, put it on your heart to start moving towards the renewal and the freedom He has provided for you.
